15 Seconds of Fame... a Ned Bloom investigation, is the first SteamNoir shortform story I've written for the Steampunk genre. Set in my own imagined Steampunk London, I envisioned Ned Bloom as a noir-style detective, run out of East Coast USA, and transplanted across the pond.
Life here has taken some time to get used to it, but after a while, Ned has come to enjoy the hustle and bustle of London city life. And with the constant nagging and niggling from his automaton assistant, Gertrude, he's determined to make a go of it.
But some things will never stay buried and Ned soon finds himself in the eyeline of crime lord Petrelli, made all the more intense since it's the man's daughter and estranged ex-wife Ned is standing between.
"If I could accurately predict how my day would be just by who walked in my office door, life may not be any better, but at least I’d be able to plan my time." - Ned Bloom
